Pulled hamstring........?

You definitely pulled it. And it sounds like it could be a grade two strain because of the bruising. Supposedly the first 48 hours are the most important for recovery, but you are probably already past that point. Just make sure you stretch it a lot to loosen the muscle and ice it for 20 minutes at least once a day, but 2 would probably be better. If you have to do anything soon that requires using your hamstring such as running/exercising/playing sports....you should heat it prior to the activity to loosen the muscle. Stretch also! And make sure you never ice before you stretch...always ice AFTER. Recovery time can be as much as 4 to 6 weeks :( Hope you feel better soon!
