How to take care of this goldfish?

i went to a fair today and won a golfish.. they had some food you could buy for it, so i got some of that too. now im home and i put him in a vase(clear, its really similar to a fish bowl only elongated) and gave him some food(as directed on the box). I dont know what im meant to do though to like take care of him? like should the water be hot lukewarm or cold, is there something i should put in his vase etc. help please (:
